Frequently Asked Questions

HOW DO I BECOME A PATIENT?

We encourage you to schedule a free 15-minute phone consultation or call the direct line at 207.222.7470 to get started. We will return your call or email to confirm your appointment within 1-2 business days. If you have questions prior to scheduling the appointment, feel free to reach out via email, kpreston@wellpathnp.com, or by phone!

WHAT CAN I EXPECT FROM MY INITIAL APPOINTMENT?

Ahead of your initial appointment, you will complete our health history forms so we can properly review your history, and any important prior lab results ahead of time. During this initial appointment, we will spend about an hour together to review your medical history, draw the connections between your symptoms and likely causes of your health issues and explain how we can help. Together we’ll determine which of our wellness programs is the best fit for you. Prior to the first visit, you will need to have had a 15-minute phone consultation at no charge with our provider to be sure WellPathNP is a good fit for you.

WHAT TYPES OF CONCERNS DO PATIENTS AT WELLPATHNP COME IN FOR?

We typically see men and women aged 18 and older, though we also treat children over the age of 5 for issues within our expertise. We take a functional approach to care, addressing common concerns such as hormonal imbalances, cardiovascular diseases (including high cholesterol), diabetes, insulin resistance, and obesity. We also evaluate and treat gut issues like diarrhea, constipation, heartburn, bloating, and pain, as well as mild to moderate anxiety and depression. Additionally, we specialize in assessing and treating biotoxin issues, including exposure to mold, environmental toxins, heavy metals, and dementia.

DO YOU ACCEPT INSURANCE PLANS?

We do not participate in any commercial insurance networks. However, as a courtesy, we can provide you with a "super bill" for you to submit to your insurance company. Many of our patients also use their Health Savings Accounts (HSAs) to cover costs. Please note that all fees for each visit are due at the time of the appointment. We are approved as an in-network Medicare provider, which allows us to order labs and diagnostic tests such as MRIs, CT scans, and mammograms, ensuring these tests are covered by Medicare. However, we do not accept Medicare for office visits.

HOW DO OUR PROGRAMS WORK?

We start with an in-depth analysis of where you are today. Based on your medical history and your goals, you’ll undergo a series of sophisticated and comprehensive tests to assess your current hormonal balance, your nutritional status, your stress levels and your risk for chronic disease. Once your lab analysis is complete, we’ll prepare a personalized wellness program to meet your goals and address any current health issues and symptoms. Depending on the program this may include one of our specialized nutrition or weight loss programs, a tailored regimen of pharmaceutical grade nutritional supplements, and bio-identical hormone therapy where appropriate. Then together, we’ll get to work.

WHAT KIND OF LAB TESTING DO YOU OFFER?

We offer comprehensive and specialized testing through multiple lab testing companies. Some test kits can be sent home with you, but blood specimens can be drawn in the office. We have done the work of negotiating with these lab services to get you cash pricing below or equal to what insurance often doesn’t cover.

ARE PRODUCTS AVAILABLE FOR PURCHASE?

Yes, as a convenience to our patients, we offer select supplements for purchase either in the office or via FULLSCRIPT, a secure provider site. We strongly urge patients to consider the highest-quality supplements due to concerns about the accuracy of dosing and overall safety of product. We are especially concerned about contaminants such as heavy metals, pesticides, unnecessary additives, etc. in many supplements.

WHAT IS LIFESTYLE COACHING?

To partner with the patient to promote a healthier lifestyle. The goal is to achieve optimal weight, reverse or improve chronic disease, increase energy, and better fitness for the maximum enjoyment of life’s experiences. We have a holistic nutritionist, and health coach to work with you as you meet your goals.
